Safety & Workplace Policy

Our commitment to a safe, secure, and healthy workplace for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
Safety is a core value at Plast Mould Industries and a shared responsibility.

POLICY STATEMENT + SCOPE

1.  Policy Statement

  • We are committed to providing a safe, secure, and healthy workplace for all employees, contractors, visitors, and the communities in which we operate.

    Safety is a core value of Plast Mould Industries and the responsibility of every individual.

2. Scope

  • This policy applies to:

    • All manufacturing facilities and plants
    • Shops, offices, and warehouses
    • Contractors and subcontractors working on our sites
    • Visitors entering our premises
    • All work activities under Company control

3. Objectives

Zero Harm Target

We strive for zero fatalities and continuously work to reduce Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR).  

Legal Compliance

We comply with all applicable health, safety, and environmental laws, regulations, and industry standards.  

Risk-Based Approach  

We identify, assess, control, and monitor risks in a systematic and continuous manner.  

4. Key Requirements & Controls

1. Risk Assessment          

Formal risk assessments and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) are carried out for each activity.

Assessments are reviewed annually or after any significant incident or change.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)  

PPE such as helmets, gloves, safety shoes, eye protection, ear protection, and masks must be worn as required by the job.

 Supervisors and managers are responsible for enforcing PPE compliance.

Machine Safety & LOTO

All machinery must be equipped with appropriate guards and interlocks.

Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures are mandatory during maintenance.

Only authorized personnel may operate or service equipment.

 

Permit to Work (PTW)  

High-risk work such as hot work, confined space entry, and electrical work requires a valid permit and supervision.

 

Training & Awareness  

All employees receive safety induction training, regular toolbox talks, role-based safety training, and participate in emergency drills.

Training records are maintained and monitored.


Incident Reporting & Investigation  

All incidents, near misses, and hazards must be reported within 24 hours.

Root cause analysis (such as 5 Whys / RCA) is carried out and corrective and preventive actions are documented.

 

7. Contractor Safety Management

Contractors must submit safety method statements, attend safety induction, and follow all site PPE rules and safety procedures.

 

8. First Aid & Medical Support

 First aid kits are available and trained first responders are designated.

 We maintain tie-ups with local clinics/hospitals for emergency medical care.

 

9. Fire Safety & Emergency Response

Fire extinguishers and hydrants are installed and maintained.

Evacuation routes and assembly points are marked.

Mock drills are conducted at least once a year.

Emergency contact numbers are displayed at key locations.

 

10. Housekeeping & Waste Handling   

We follow 5S principles for housekeeping.

Chemicals are stored with proper labeling and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

Hazardous waste is segregated, labeled, and disposed of as per regulations.

 

11. Ergonomics   

Workstations and tasks are periodically reviewed to reduce strain from repetitive motions and manual handling.

Mechanical aids are used where possible for lifting and moving heavy loads.

 

12. Occupational Health Monitoring

  Periodic health checks are conducted for employees exposed to noise, dust, chemicals, or other risk factors.

 Health records are maintained securely as per statutory requirements.

5. Responsibilities

Role Key Responsibilities
Board / CEO Approve and endorse this Safety & Workplace Policy. Ensure adequate resources for health, safety, and environment (HSE) programs.
EHS Head Implement safety systems, conduct audits, oversee incident investigations, and arrange safety training.
Plant Manager / Supervisors Enforce safety rules, conduct JSAs, maintain records, ensure PPE usage, and address hazards promptly.
Employees & Workers Follow safety procedures, use PPE correctly, report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions without delay.

6. Monitoring & Audit

We regularly monitor our safety performance through:

  • Monthly safety KPIs, including near misses, minor injuries, and Lost Time Injuries (LTIs).
  • Quarterly internal EHS audits at plants and offices.
  • Annual external safety audits by qualified third parties.
  • Management review meetings to evaluate performance, review incidents, and allocate necessary resources.

7. Non-Compliance

Breaches of safety rules, procedures, or instructions are taken seriously and may lead to disciplinary action, including:

  • Verbal or written warnings
  • Suspension from duty or removal from site
  • Termination of employment or contract

Gross negligence or willful violation that puts life or safety at serious risk may result in termination and may also lead to legal action, as per applicable law.
